The Red Cross Society of Georgia is a voluntary, humanitarian, independent non-governmental public association, which acts as an auxiliary organization of the government in the field of humanitarian activities. It operates throughout the country in accordance with the charter and mission of the International Organization of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, observing the basic principles and enjoying the rights and duties defined by the legislation of Georgia. The Georgian Red Cross Society was founded in 1918. The Georgian Red Cross Society has been recognized since 1997 by the Law "On the Georgian Red Cross Society", which was updated in 2017.
